Cougar Marching Band Alumni Association!

2009 was an outstanding year for the Cougar Band Alumni!

Our group’s philanthropic endeavors included a contribution to the 2009 Operation School Supplies program and the awarding of six $1,000 scholarships outstanding UH Marching band students. For our efforts the Cougar Band Alumni was recognized by the Houston Alumni Organization with the prestigious Gold Banner Award for the fourth year in a row. This is the highest award given to alumni organizations by the Houston Alumni Organization. Also for the third year in a row we won the “Most Spirited” award at the 2009 Homecoming Tailgate Challenge and $500 in scholarship funds from the University of Houston Alumni Association.

We also have a Band Parents Yahoo Group—UHBANDS-PARENTS –at www.yahoogroups.com. that has just started to help keep band parents abreast of activities that are ongoing. Hopefully it will give you a place to plug and help in our efforts to raise scholarship funds for the band.
