Sorry to be so late in getting a post event note out. We’ve just been swamped!

 

The 5^th Annual Concert and Raffle hosted by the UH Spirit of Houston Marching Band was a grand success as always!  Every year I say there is just no way the Staff and students of our incredible band can possibly produce a better show than the year before – and every year they do!  The show was incredible – as always! The tribute to Dr Moffit was beautifully done. Mrs. Moffit was present to receive the Phi Mu Alpha award bestowed Dr. Moffit posthumously, and she was also installed as an Honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma as well.

 

The raffle that the alumni hosted to raise scholarship funds for band students was successful too. We added about $3300 to our treasury for scholarships for 2009. This is a similar amount of income to what we made on the 2007 event – so given the current economic situation – I feel very happy that we did well in this area. Cathy Coers Frank, Roxanne Weiner Tiner, Jennifer Zuber-Garrison, Iris and Mike Story, & Nancy and Rusty Hess all helped in set up and/or ticket sales for the raffle – and I can tell you their help was GREATLY appreciated!

 

The Dinner arrangements were made by Kitten Muckelroy Page. The area was lovely, decked out in white table clothes, and lovely vases of red roses with white UH Ribbons especially silk screened  by Marsha Howard for the event. Thank you ladies for your help with this event.

 

The listing of our raffle donors is still up on the website, so take a minute to review that. We couldn’t have done any of this without those who so generously donated items to our fund raiser. If you have the opportunity to do business with any of these donors, please do so, and let them know how much you appreciate their support of our Spirit of Houston Cougar Marching Band.

Have a Happy Turkey Day and see you at the Rice game – There will be no organized tailgate for the UH Band Alumni at this game.
